Pick Eight

The Rules

Short, because the game is. Free to play, one account per person, 18 and over, picks locked at the first kick-off, and a draw that anyone can check.

The game

  • Each card lists the matches of the week, usually eight, each with its kick-off time shown in your own time zone.
  • For every match you pick 1 (home win), X (draw) or 2 (away win). The result is the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time; extra time and penalties do not count.
  • You can change your picks as often as you like until the first match on the card kicks off. Then the card locks for everyone.
  • A match that is postponed, abandoned or moved past the card's week is void: it drops out of the count and a perfect card is every remaining match right.
  • Results come from the official competition sources and are entered by us, usually within a day of the last match.

Points and tables

  • One point per right pick. The week's table ranks the card, the season table adds every card together; ties share a rank, and the number of perfect cards breaks ties on the season table.
  • The percentages next to the picks show what every player chose, and appear only once the card is locked.

The draws and the prizes

  • Every player with a perfect card gets one entry in that card's weekly draw. If nobody is perfect, the players with the most right picks are the entries.
  • Everyone who filled the whole card and is not in the weekly draw is one entry in the lucky loser draw of that card, for a smaller prize.
  • Every perfect card is also one entry in the month's draw. Two perfect cards in a month are two entries.
  • The winner of a draw is picked from the hash of a Bitcoin block whose number was fixed in advance; the sum is on the draws page and can be checked by anyone.
  • The prizes are written on each card and change from week to week: a tournament ticket, a Spins ticket, a free bet on the sportsbook, dollars on your balance at the room, or something else WePlay or Basepoker offer. A prize goes to the winner's account at the room, which the winner needs to have or open, and is not exchanged for anything else.
  • A winner is named on the draws page by nickname and contacted by the e-mail of the Google account within three days. A prize not claimed within 30 days of that e-mail goes back into the next draw.

Fair play

  • One account per person, 18 years or older, and only where taking part in a free game like this is allowed where you live. Entry is free and no purchase or deposit is ever needed to play or to win.
  • Nicknames are public; keep them clean. We may rename or remove an account that breaks that, or that plays with more than one account.
  • We can void a card or a match when a mistake in the fixtures or the results makes a fair settlement impossible, and we say so on the card.

What we store

Your Google account gives us a stable id, your name, your e-mail and your profile picture. We keep them to recognise you when you come back, to show your nickname on the tables and to contact a winner. We do not post anything to your Google account, we do not send newsletters from this list, and we do not pass the data to anyone. Ask us through the contact page and your account and picks are deleted.

Who runs it

Pick Eight is run by CryptoPoker.blog, a blog by players, with the prizes paid through the rooms we write about, where we hold affiliate accounts. About us says who we are, and responsible gambling is where to turn if the betting side of life stops being fun.
