WePlay paid $860 in overlays on Thursday night

On Thursday 5 November, four of WePlay's evening tournaments paid out more than their players put in: The Predator, the $22 Bounty Blitz, the $11 Daily Grind and the $11 Daily Turbo. Together the overlays came to $860, and $460 of it was in The Predator.

We read the entries in WePlay's lobby after late registration had closed. Put in leaves out WePlay's fee: The Predator's $33 is $15 + $3 + $15, so each entry put $30 into the prize pool and the bounties.
Why we play them
We play to win, and an overlay is money in the prize pool that nobody paid for. When it is bigger than the fees, the average entry is worth more than its buy-in, which makes the tournament +EV before a card is dealt. In The Predator, 118 entries paid $3,894 with the fee and played for $4,000; the Bounty Blitz and the Daily Turbo were the same. The Daily Grind's $70 overlay was smaller than its $93 of fees, so there it paid back most of the fee.
