WePlay Overlays

When the buy-ins at a guaranteed WePlay tournament fall short of the guarantee, WePlay pays the difference. These are the overlays, night by night.

At a glance

The latest night
On Thursday 5 November, four guaranteed tournaments at WePlay paid out $860 more than their players put in.
The biggest overlay
The Predator: 118 entries at $33 put $3,540 into a $4,000 guarantee, so WePlay added $460.
+EV for the field
The overlay was bigger than the fees in The Predator, the $22 Bounty Blitz and the $11 Daily Turbo, so the average entry there was worth more than its buy-in.

WePlay matches the first deposit 200%, up to $600 on $50 or more.

How we count an overlay

We read WePlay's lobby after late registration has closed, when the number of entries is final. The lobby shows each buy-in in parts: the $22 Bounty Blitz is $10 + $2 + $10, which is $10 to the prize pool, $2 to WePlay and $10 to the bounties. So 86 entries put 86 × $20 = $1,720 into a $2,000 guarantee, and WePlay added the other $280.

The lobby's entry count includes re-entries: in that Bounty Blitz the regular prize pool was $1,140, which is the $2,000 less 86 bounties of $10. Tickets in the prize pool count at their face value, because the lobby counts them in the guarantee. Rebuy tournaments are left out, since the lobby does not show how many rebuys and add-ons were bought.

When an overlay is bigger than the fees the field paid, the guarantee is bigger than everything the field paid, so the average entry is worth more than its buy-in. That is the +EV part: in The Predator on 5 November, 118 entries paid $3,894 with the fee and played for $4,000. We play to win, and a field like that starts with money in it that nobody paid for.

The next ones

The same evening games come back. The $22 Bounty Blitz with $2,000 runs Tuesday to Thursday, the $11 Daily Grind with $1,000 on Wednesday and Thursday, the $11 Daily Turbo with $300 from Monday to Saturday, and The Predator with $4,000 every Thursday. Every start is on the Tonight page.

The first deposit bonus is up to $600 on $50 or more.

Questions

What is an overlay?

Money in a tournament's prize pool that no player paid in. When the buy-ins fall short of the guarantee, WePlay adds the rest, and the tournament plays for more than its field paid.

How do you count the overlay?

The guarantee less the entries times the part of each buy-in that goes to the prize pool and the bounties, read in the lobby after late registration closed. WePlay's fee stays out, and tickets in the prize pool count at face value.

Which WePlay tournaments had an overlay?

On Thursday 5 November 2026: The Predator ($460), the $22 Bounty Blitz ($280), the $11 Daily Grind ($70) and the $11 Daily Turbo ($50).

Is a tournament with an overlay +EV?

For the average entry it is when the overlay is bigger than the fees the field paid, because then the guarantee is bigger than everything the field paid. Your own edge comes on top of that.
