VanEck says bitcoin miner shares fell 35% on average in October
VanEck said in a note on 4 November that shares of bitcoin miners that moved into AI data centres fell an average of 35% in October. It named Hut 8 and Core Scientific and said the fall spread from GPU rental firms such as CoreWeave over debt costs. VanEck said no signed leases were cancelled and that grid connections remain scarce.
Miners that earn more from data centres depend less on the bitcoin they mine, which shapes how much they need to sell.
